Overview

Why Study in USA?

The United States hosts over one million international students annually and is home to more globally top-ranked universities than any other country. American degrees — whether from Ivy League institutions, flagship state universities, or specialist private colleges — carry a level of prestige and network access that is unmatched by any other education system.

The US higher education system is defined by its breadth, its research intensity, and its deeply embedded industry connections. Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Hollywood, and the world's leading biotech, aerospace, and healthcare companies all recruit directly from US campuses.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows F-1 visa students to work in the US for 12 months after graduation, with a 24-month extension available to STEM graduates — giving students up to three years of US work experience, which is a powerful foundation for employer-sponsored long-term residency.

Education System

US Higher Education System

The US does not have a single national education framework — instead, universities and colleges are accredited by regional accreditation bodies, which are recognised by the US Department of Education. Regional accreditation (as opposed to national accreditation) is the gold standard and the most internationally transferable.

The US academic calendar typically runs August–May, with two main semesters and optional summer sessions. Some universities operate on a quarter system (four 10-week terms). Most institutions offer a Spring (January) and Fall (August) intake for international students.
