Overview
Why Study in Canada?
Canada hosts over 800,000 international students annually, making it one of the fastest-growing study destinations in the world. Its world-ranked universities, affordable tuition relative to the US and UK, and one of the most welcoming immigration systems on the planet make it an exceptional choice for students who want to combine quality education with a clear PR pathway.
Canada's cities — Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary — are consistently ranked among the most liveable in the world. With a bilingual culture (English and French), an open and inclusive society, and one of the strongest job markets for skilled migrants, Canada offers a uniquely rewarding experience for international graduates.
The 2026 intake environment has been reshaped by Canada's new international student cap, introduced to manage rapid enrolment growth. Provincial Attestation Letters (PAL) are now required for most new study permit applications, making early planning and expert guidance critical for a successful application.
Education System
Canadian Education System
Canada's education system is decentralised — each of its ten provinces and three territories manages its own education system, though standards are nationally consistent and internationally recognised. Canadian credentials are accepted globally, and graduates from recognised institutions are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) programme.
Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) are approved by provincial/territorial governments and are the only institutions whose graduates are eligible for PGWP. Confirming DLI status before enrolling is critical for immigration planning.
College Diploma (1–3 years)
Practical career-focused programmes at public colleges. Often the fastest pathway to PGWP.
Applied Degree (4 years)
Combines theory and hands-on training, offered primarily at polytechnics.
Bachelor's Degree (4 years)
University undergraduate degrees, widely recognised globally.
Graduate Certificate (1 year)
Post-degree specialist programmes, highly popular with international students.
Master's Degree (1–2 years)
Research or coursework-based postgraduate study, often paired with co-op placements.
PhD (3–5 years)
Doctoral research, frequently funded through scholarships and TA positions.
